Year in Review: Highlights from 2023

January 21, 2024

You were part of another unforgettable year.

Whether you volunteered, donated, prayed, or advocated for our mission, thank you for making 2023 impactful. The year wasn’t without its challenges. With your help, we’ve built a strong foundation to weather anything that comes our way.

While our waiting list continues to hover around 1,000 applicants, we started the year having repaired more than 1,550 homes. We’re now eclipsing 1,650 homes repaired in our 17-year history. The list of homeowners in safer homes exceeds those who are waiting for assistance. We are tipping the scales.

While there is still work to be done, there is comfort in knowing you’re on our side.

Volunteers Stepped Up!

120+ supporters attended the annual Because of You BBQ supporter appreciation event. Staff honored individuals and community organizations with awards during National Volunteer Appreciation Week.

Volunteers shared their stories, including Michael Arabe‘s testimonial about serving those who have served. David Fant shared how he raised $1,000 for our program just by showing up.

A women’s build was held during National Women in Construction Week.

Volunteer Teams raised $100,000 in alignment with their build days – the most build day sponsorship funds we’ve ever seen!

Donors Rose to the Challenge

When we shared about a significant funding gap, community support led to our most successful fundraising campaign in the organization’s history.

Supporters kept the momentum going at A Toast to Home, an inaugural fundraising event that raised nearly $65,000 for home repairs.

Donors decided to make their commitment year-round, doubling the number of Porch Partners in our community of recurring donors. Their donations total more than $30,000 annually.

Programs & Operational Wins

Our team spent the year learning and exploring how to meet immediate needs faster, particularly fall-prevention by installation of ramps. A Ramp Program Pilot began and as we start 2024, staff has been hired to help “ramp up” the program to full capacity.

Staff Recognition

Ashley Weekly, Homeowner Services Manager, was named the AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Year by the United Way of Greenville County.

Rosey Davis was named a 40 Under 40 Honoree by the SC Business Journal.

Thank you for your support, volunteerism, and prayer as we continue our work in the year ahead.
