Retired & Senior Volunteer Program: Earn $1,000 For Our Program

The AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program provides grants to organizations with a dual purpose: to engage Americans 55 years and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs, and to provide a high-quality experience for the volunteers.

The most helpful thing you can do is sign-up to be a Captain for an RSVP build day. As Captain, you’re committing to find at least 5 additional volunteers age 55+ to join on a build day. Our standard builds usually accommodate 8-10 volunteers, so you don’t need the entire team to be age 55 or older. When you volunteer to be a captain, you’re volunteering to earn us at least $6,000 in one build day.

You will schedule this build day just like our standard build days, typically 6-8 weeks ahead of your volunteer date. You can learn more about coordinating and planning a group build day here.

No home repair skills are needed to be an RSVP volunteer. Anyone who wants to serve joyfully is welcome and encouraged to help.

In addition to helping a neighbor? What more do you need? Volunteers actually do get extra perks like a gift card for lunch and being eligible for gas reimbursement to and from the build day.
