What to Expect Working with a Site Leader

Site Leader Graham starts the day with a safety huddle.

A Site Leader is a volunteer or staff member who will guide your volunteer team through completing repairs.

Site Leaders have guided thousands of volunteers through successful build days.

Site Leaders receive extensive training from our staff, background checks, and multiple shadowing days before they can lead a group independently. We take site safety seriously.

Here’s what one volunteer shared about working with their site leader:

“I felt like we were set up for success with clear communication before the build day, at the site with the site leader and fully stocked tool truck. It was one of the best construction projects I’ve worked on because it felt so efficient.”

Site Leaders are part adventure guides, part teachers, and part problem solvers.

Here’s how they support volunteers throughout a build day:

  1. Arrive Early and Set-Up the Tool Trailer
  2. Greet the Homeowner and Let them Know we’re setting up for the day
  3. Greet Volunteers on Site
  4. Conduct a Safety Huddle
  5. Assess Volunteer Skill Levels & Assign Work to Small Groups
  6. Teaches the Use of Tools
  7. Oversees Quality Installation According to Plans
  8. Communicate with Staff if any material or repair questions arise
  9. Oversee Clean-Up of the Tool Trailer
  10. Report any uncompleted work or project notes back to our staff
