Rebuild Upstate welcomes Jake Beaty as CEO
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Board of Rebuild Upstate has chosen Jake Beaty as its new full-time CEO to lead the nonprofit in serving low-income homeowners with repairs and accessibility improvements to create safe, livable housing in existing homes and neighborhoods in Greenville, Anderson, Pickens, and Oconee counties.
Beaty brings more than 20 years of experience in helping lead and grow a multi-city church. After graduating from Anderson University in 2000, Beaty quickly got involved with NewSpring church as the Associate Student Pastor. Within the church, he spent five years as an Associate Care Pastor, four years as the Central Care and Outreach Director and nine years as the Staff Health and Outreach Director.
“I have had the privilege of helping to build a large non-profit ministry in the Upstate of South Carolina,” Beaty said. “In the time I was there, I led and trained staff members and volunteers, I helped to provide financial assistance to members of the community, and I worked on several disaster relief projects throughout the south east. I also vetted and partnered with many local and foreign nonprofits, and was blessed to travel and lead trips to 11 different countries to help with humanitarian aid.”
After serving the rapidly expanding church for two decades, Beaty is confident he will be adequately prepared to lead Rebuild Upstate through its continued growth. In 2021 alone, Rebuild Upstate repaired 145 homes and completed 556 projects. That includes 825 volunteers, who logged a total of 7906 hours, and the organization has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
Since it started its mission of repairing homes for low-income families in the Upstate, the organization has been led by Chris Manley in the role of CEO and board member. From its humble beginnings, Rebuild Upstate has grown into an organization with 15 employees completing over 3,300 home repair projects in over 1300 homes across 15 years, and has done so with Manley working as a part-time CEO.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have a leader with Jake’s experience, leadership, and passion for people,” Manley said. “I am excited to get to work alongside Jake and the team to continue advancing the mission of Rebuild Upstate as we repair more homes for individuals and families.” Manley will continue to work with the organization in a limited capacity as Founder & Executive Advisor.
Rebuild Upstate helps low-income homeowners with home repairs and accessibility improvements to create safe, livable housing in existing homes and neighborhoods. Home repairs can range from small plumbing fixes to roof and floor replacements. Accessibility improvements range from installing grab bars and railings for vulnerable populations to building wheelchair ramps for those with disabilities.

The agency has been honored numerous times in the home repair industry and in the local community. This includes: the Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency, GuideStar.org, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022; Best Practice in Stewardship of Volunteers Award, Coalition for Home Repair, 2018 and 2020; the Dan Rawls Community Service Award, Home Builders Association of Greenville in 2019; and the Max Heller Neighborhood Improvement Award, Greenville Chamber of Commerce, 2019.
