In 2006, Melanie attended her first mission trip with her youth group to Houma, Louisiana. The group spent a week supporting safe housing through hurricane relief efforts. Since that summer, Melanie has been involved with home repair missions as a volunteer, camp counselor, AmeriCorps VISTA, and now a part-time, remote staff member with Rebuild Upstate.
Engaging with missions as a young adult inspired her to pursue a career in nonprofit management. Melanie graduated with her Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN in 2017. Prior to that, she attended Kent State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Conflict Management in 2014.
