How We Serve

What We Do

Each Home is as Unique as the Family Inside

Rebuild Upstate’s approach to affordable housing differs from other affordable housing organizations. We don’t offer total new home construction or provide affordable rental housing. We focus solely on home preservation and repair as a means to keep residents in their own homes. This lets us keep a family in an affordable home while we preserve the existing stock of affordable homes.

Who This Is For

Building Relationships While Helping Rebuild the Upstate

Our team assesses the home and seeks to understand the needs of each person inside it, ensuring we provide repairs that help the most. Giving the home a safe entry and exit by building a new wheelchair ramp or ensuring that a family is healthy and dry under a new roof are just a few examples of our work. Our goal with every home repair is to make sure the residents remain comfortably in place for years to come.

Affordable Housing is a Complex Issue

We Can’t Tackle it Alone

Our commitment to creating safe and healthy homes to address the root of the affordable housing issue is important. We cannot do it alone.

There are a few symptoms of poor housing conditions that must be addressed. For example, substandard housing has been associated with poor physical health, subpar school readiness in children, and mental health issues. In addition, poverty is a cycle and there are interconnected systems that can support or hold back a family’s ability to improve their financial situation.

That’s why Rebuild Upstate takes a direct approach to affordable housing. We partner with other great organizations to help address the symptoms of subpar housing. We work together to empower individuals to break the cycle of poverty.
