City Declares Rebuild Upstate Week 4.27.15
The City of Greenville has declared the week of April 27 “Rebuild Upstate Week” in honor of the organization’s new name and dedication to serving the community. Mayor Knox White delivered a proclamation making it official.
The proclamation reads:
Proclamation WHEREAS, the need to care for the homes of low-income residents of Greenville is important for the stability of neighborhoods, access to healthcare, and focus on education and employment; and WHEREAS, repairing substandard homes and improving accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities is vital to restoring dignity to these residents of Greenville; and WHEREAS, the organization REBUILD UPSTATE provides repairs and accessibility improvements to low-income residents across greater Greenville and the Upstate; and WHEREAS, volunteers, corporations, and nonprofit agencies from across Greenville demonstrate their commitment to low-income housing repairs through thousands of hours of volunteering and support; and NOW THEREFORE, I Knox H. White, Mayor of the City of Greenville, do hereby proclaim the week of April 27, 2015, as: REBUILD UPSTATE WEEK in the City of Greenville and on behalf of city council encourage all citizens to participate in serving low-income residents of substandard housing, low-income seniors, and people with disabilities, not only during REBUILD UPSTATE Week but all year long, to make a visible statement that we are strongly committed to lifting up our community and helping to create safe, livable housing in Greenville, South Carolina.
