The Impact of Your Donations

This year, your support showed up right when it was needed most.

In 2025, your donations did more than raise money. They showed that you believe in this mission. It’s been a challenging year with federal budget cuts, a long government shutdown, and even confusion caused by unverified nonprofit fundraising pages.

But we’re here, repairing homes, and working on what we can control to access resources for safer housing.

Whether you’ve already donated this year (thank you!) or you plan to, know that your donation makes a difference.

Here is what community donations made possible this year:

Headlines from 2025:
  • We installed our first metal ramp, a significant milestone in responding to urgent needs such as hospice requests.
  • We expanded our homeowner services by implementing a new homeowner application portal and streamlining the digital application process.
  • Our program turned into three programs: Critical Home Repairs, Aging in Place, and Ramps and Decks.
  • Rebuild Upstate launched a capital campaign to equip the warehouse and initiated updates.
  • The Porch Partner community grew by 10 members, contributing more than $50,000 annually.
  • Despite losing funds due to federal cuts, community members ensured there would be no effects on our program by stepping up to fill the gap.
  • Disaster Assistance Program Funds for homes damaged by storms have been implemented for nearly 20 homes.
Here’s what you helped accomplish:
Program Operations

Our programs team implemented new software to help us better carry out our program. The software helps homeowners to have more transparency over application status and reduce processing time. Homeowners can log in to their portal account to view application updates and submit any necessary documentation.

The first metal ramp was installed as part of our Ramps and Decks program. Rebuild Upstate owns 10 metal ramps, which can be used for short-term needs or in partnership with hospice. The ramp was installed by volunteers.

Streamlined programs help our team better match applicants to a repair funding program. With over 25 program funders, all with nuances in eligibility, this efficiency benefits homeowners by reducing wait times and increasing staff capacity.

Renovations to the warehouse began, with community members raising more than $100,000 in support of a capital campaign.

Grant Support

Thanks to donations, our team had peace of mind, knowing that the community was committed to meeting the needs of our homeowners and the needs of the organization. Your donations allow us to prioritize pursuing advantageous grant opportunities from private and public foundations. Here are some highlights of grants and partnerships awarded in 2025:

  • $977,754 from the SC Housing Disaster Assistance Program in Anderson County and the City of Greenville (combined)
  • $360,000 from SC Council on Aging to help older adults age in place
  • $150,000 from the Anderson County HOME Consortium
  • $362,000 combined giving from the following partners:
    • Greenville Women Giving
    • Leon Levine Foundation
    • Bon Secours Health System
    • United Way of Anderson County
    • F.W. Symmes Foundation
    • Hathaway Family Foundation

Volunteer Support

2025 saw increased support for build day volunteers with the continued use of the Volunteer Resource Hub. The Hub equips volunteers of all skill levels to know what to expect on a build, prepare for a successful day, and learn how their service fills a broader need. The Nuts & Bolts Newsletter was launched on LinkedIn to recognize build day sponsors.

Expanding Donor Services

We’ve expanded giving options to make it easier for donors to give the best way for them.

  • Donor Advised Fund holders hosted through Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon Charitable can request a donation to Rebuild Upstate directly through our website. You can learn more here.
  • We now accept gifts of stock.
  • Planned gifts help donors plan for their future and our organization’s sustainability. We work with individuals and families to set up bequests and other planned donations.
  • As a certified Community Development Corporation, we are eligible to work with donors to earn additional state tax credits when the opportunity is available.

We’re grateful to have the opportunity to offer services back to donors. Pursuing and managing these services takes time and administrative support. You have many wonderful organizations to choose from – we’re grateful you chose us.

Building a Porch Partner Community

Porch Partners’ donations have increased by more than 10% in the past year. Porch Partners are donors who give on a recurring basis, most often, monthly. Their support provides our staff with the knowledge donations are coming so we can plan and make promises to homeowners we know we can keep. To thank Porch Partners for their support, they get perks like exclusive monthly emails and the occasional small gift.

In short, a lot has changed this year. Thanks to our donors, we’ve seen a lot of positive change that will benefit our program long term.

You have so many deserving organizations to choose from when deciding where to give. We’re grateful you chose us.

We’re still in this. We know you are behind us every step of the way.

Thank you.
