Giving Is Personal. Your Options Should Be Too.

Giving Is Personal. Your Options Should Be Too.

At Rebuild Upstate, we know every donor gives differently. That’s why we’re grateful to offer flexible ways to support safe and healthy homes, including donor-advised funds, gifts of stock, and other donor services that help you give in the way that works best for you.

Why Year-End Matters

As the year winds down, many people take time to reflect, plan, and make thoughtful financial decisions. For donors, this often includes choosing tax-advantageous ways to give. These might include:

  • Transferring appreciated stock
  • Fulfilling a Required Minimum Distribution
  • Recommending a grant from a donor-advised fund

Looking ahead, the 2026 tax year will introduce a new incentive: married couples filing jointly can claim a charitable deduction of up to $2,000, even when taking the standard deduction. Single filers can claim up to $1,000. This expanded option gives more donors the ability to make a meaningful charitable impact next year.

No matter how you choose to give, Rebuild Upstate makes the process simple and meaningful.

A Reminder for Donor-Advised Fund Holders

More than $250 billion currently sits in donor-advised funds nationwide — dollars already earmarked for charity but waiting to be put to work.

If you have a DAF, now is a great time to activate your giving. Recommending a grant is often easier than donors expect, and we use DAF Direct so you can give straight from your account in just a few clicks.

If you prefer to give through your DAF host, simply provide our EIN and your intended gift amount:

EIN: 20-8296408

Staff Tip: If you recommend a grant from your DAF, feel free to let us know. Processing times vary by provider, and a heads-up helps us track your gift with care.

What a DAF Actually Is

A donor-advised fund is similar to a charitable checking account:

  • You receive a tax deduction when you contribute to the fund.
  • Contributions are irrevocable and grow tax-free.
  • There is no payout requirement, meaning donors guide when and where funds are distributed.

If you’ve been meaning to send a grant from your DAF or explore giving stock, this year-end season is a wonderful time to act.

Your gift, in any form, repairs floors, builds ramps, restores dignity, and strengthens our community.

Gifts of Stock and Charitable Distributions

Donating appreciated stock is often one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. The process is simple: share a few key details with your broker, and they handle the transfer. If you’re ready to donate stock, complete our form and pass our account information along to your broker.

You can also speak with your financial advisor about making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA before year-end to take advantage of available 2025 tax benefits.

These alternative giving options typically require very little effort from donors. They also allow Rebuild Upstate to invest in long-term safety and stability for neighbors in need.
