Throughout Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 19th-25th, 2026, Rebuild Upstate honors volunteers and entities for their commitment and service.
This is part two of a series that recognizes volunteers for their efforts. This post focuses on awards awarded annually to businesses, churches, or other organizational community partners.
Home Repair Champion Award
Awarded to Anderson County
The Home Repair Champion Award is presented to a team whose significant financial contributions continue to impact affordable housing in the Upstate.
Since our founding, Rebuild Upstate has completed 1,294 critical home repairs across 371 households in Anderson County. Seeing our commitment to making this community safer and engaging community volunteers in the process, Anderson County made a bold decision in 2023 to create a new funding partnership with Rebuild Upstate. In the first year of that partnership, due to significant and consistent funding, we tripled the number of homes we could repair in Anderson County. Plus, Anderson County donated a work truck to our program, growing our capacity and providing more efficiency for repair services. The partnership also allowed us to create a new, regular volunteer team dedicated to Anderson County projects. This translates to hundreds of low-income older adults, veterans, people with disabilities, and families with children now living safer and holding on to the generational wealth and equity of their homes. And with the recent addition of Disaster Assistance Program funding, Rebuild Upstate has successfully served additional homeowners impacted by Hurricane Helene and other storms as well.
Anderson County serves as a leader among its peers in the ways they lead with integrity and invest in safe housing for its most vulnerable residents. Rebuild Upstate is honored to stand in partnership with the County with shared goals to preserve homes for years to come.
