One special group recently came together to build a ramp for a low-income neighbor in need.
This group also went above and beyond by sponsoring the build day to spread funds for Rebuild Upstate and help more neighbors.
Ballew’s Crew is a group from Travelers Rest formed by volunteer Barry Ballew. For several years, Barry has gathered friends and family from the local Travelers Rest area to help on several build days throughout the year, sponsoring each one.
Barry led a group of unique individuals from different backgrounds and connections and got them to come together to make an impact on a neighbor in need. Rebuild Upstate, CEO, Jake Beaty, said, “We are so grateful for the support of Ballew’s Crew in helping us serve this homeowner. When local businesses donate their time and money to help us complete a project, it creates a tangible, lasting impact.”
Ballew’s Crew is like a well-oiled machine, working at top speed and typically finishing on site early. What makes this even more impressive is the group’s composition. The group consists of volunteers who, despite coming from different places and not knowing each other at the start, quickly come together as a cohesive and highly effective team. Much of their success can be attributed to the strong construction backgrounds many of the volunteers bring to the table. Ballew’s Crew functions well together, even though most didn’t know each other originally!
Over the years, Ballew’s Crew has completed many decks and ramps that improve the quality of life for homeowners who need assistance getting in and out of their homes.
Interested in being like Ballew’s Crew? We couldn’t do what we do without volunteers, so we make it as easy as possible for you or your group to start volunteering. Get a group of friends and family together and come out to support Rebuild Upstate!
