Building Community One Hand at a Time
Community partners, Christ Church Men’s Ministry, joined Rebuild Upstate for another build day in April to complete an accessibility ramp for a homeowner in Greenville County.
Rebuild Upstate relies on groups such as Christ Church to support and create solutions for critical needs for our neighbors. During their time on site, members of the men’s group worked through the day to provide a safe entry and exit point for a homeowner.
One volunteer, David Mitchell, hit the nail on the head when he said, “We often talk about ‘community’ as an abstract concept, but after a day on a Rebuild Upstate job site, you realize community is something you build with your own two hands.”
CEO, Jake Beaty, says “Christ Church is one of those examples of groups who adopts other missions as their own. We’re grateful we are one of those missions they choose to continue to support with feet on the ground and equity that creates more opportunity to serve our neighbors.”
Nearly half of the repair projects completed by our program last year were sponsored by local businesses or community groups. Most build day sponsors are organizations choosing to invest their time and resources back into the community where they live and worship. These partnerships are the backbone of our mission, allowing us to provide safety and stability to those who need it most.
Each year, thousands of volunteers help us live out our mission. Our generous volunteers perform critical repairs for our neighbors while having fun and sharing hope with each homeowner along the way. We couldn’t do what we do without groups like St. Andrews, and we make it as easy as possible for you or your organization to get involved.
