Volunteers from Circuit Board Medics, a Greenville-based electronics repair company, recently traded their precision tools for power tools to demo and rebuild a deck for a local homeowner.
Rebuild Upstate, a nonprofit dedicated to serving low-income homeowners, relies on the hands-on support of local partners like Circuit Board Medics to fulfill its mission. Over the course of a full Saturday, 23 eager volunteers worked together to demolish an unsafe structure and replace it with a brand-new, stable deck. This project ensures the homeowner can once again enjoy their outdoor space with the safety and dignity they deserve.
“Support from partners like Circuit Board Medics makes all the difference,” said Rebuild Upstate CEO, Jake Beaty. “When businesses give their time and effort, it creates lasting change that extends well beyond the project itself.”
The partnership was a natural fit, rooted in a shared philosophy of service. Wes Cavin, Chaplain at Circuit Board Medics, noted that the company’s internal mission aligned perfectly with the work being done in the community.
“The vision of Circuit Board Medics is ‘Care. Serve. Restore,’” said Cavin. “After learning about Rebuild Upstate’s mission of ‘Returning Dignity, Safety, & Stability,’ we knew we had found the right partner. We sent 23 volunteers to serve a neighbor by replacing a dangerous deck with a new one. After a day of hard work and camaraderie, we were proud to provide safety to a neighbor in need.”
Nearly half of the repair projects and ramps installed by our program last year were sponsored by local businesses or community groups. Most of these sponsors are locally-owned companies, like Circuit Board Medics, that choose to invest their resources and team energy back into the neighborhoods where they live and work.
